The Entenmann's bakery in Bay Shore is closing down.
Employees met with company officials at a closed-door meeting where it was announced that production will be ending by July. Over 170 employees will be affected by the shutdown.
Entenmann's, now owned by Bimbo Bakeries USA, has a long history in New York. The company moved from Brooklyn to the current location in Bay Shore in 1961.
The company did tell News 12 that even though the production will end in Bay Shore, the sales center, distribution facility and the store will remain open.
The company says consumers will still be able to buy their baked goods, because even though production is ending at the Bay Shore facility, it will be moved to other locations across the United States.
