Around the world Tuesday people came together to celebrate the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha.

Eid al-Adha is the second of two major Islamic holidays, and no matter where in the world it's observed, it begins with a morning prayer.

The holiday is also known as the feast of the sacrifice. It commemorates Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his only son to express his devotion to Allah. The celebration continues with visiting friends and family, a great feast and giving back to the less fortunate.

"If there is any place to celebrate such an occasion it is here in New York, it is here in the Bronx, where you meet people from all walks of life, people with all faiths and backgrounds and this holiday is a representation of what we have in common, not what differentiates us," says Sheikh Musadrammeh, a mosque imam.

Eid al-Adha will last until Saturday, Aug. 25 and many in the Bronx hope by next year they will be able to celebrate in a new mosque they want to build in the Co-op City neighborhood.
