Protesters in Patchogue on Wednesday demanded action for and against gun control outside the office of Rep. Lee Zeldin in the wake of Sunday's mass shooting in Las Vegas.

The Shirley Republican continues to draw the ire of gun control advocates. He was in Washington, D.C. during the protests.

After starting with song, one group of protesters took a moment of silence for the Las Vegas victims, which the other side respected.

Last year, the National Rifle Association's political action committee endorsed Zeldin for re-election. It touted his credentials as a lawmaker who "opposes gun control" and a "semi-automatic weapon ban." It even gave him an "A" rating, calling him a "solidly pro-gun candidate."

A spokesperson for Zeldin says the congressman "has always analyzed every proposal individually on its own merit."

The massacre at a Las Vegas country music festival left at least 58 people dead and more than 500 injured.
