Drivers eye Seymour Ave. sinkholes as safety threat
Residents on Seymour Avenue say without permanent repairs to the sinkholes lining their street, trouble could arise.
Residents believe an underground stream has caused the formation of nearly a dozen sinkholes on their street. They say requests to the city for help have brought only short-term patching jobs and not a permanent solution.
Residents say they are used to driving the damaged road, but they fear strangers to the area could be in trouble while driving down the street. P.S. 97 is around the corner from Seymour Avenue, and some residents fear a child could one day be involved in an accident while walking home from school.
The Department of Environmental Protection says it is aware of the sinkhole problem and is currently investigating the Seymour Avenue complaints.
