EAST ROCKAWAY - Members of East Rockaway Little League are smiling today after a Pennsylvania organization replaced thousands of dollars of equipment destroyed by Sandy.

The storm put the team’s equipment shed under nearly six feet of water.

Most of the kids have not been able to return to their East Rockaway homes since the storm and getting the news that the Little League season might not happen was also upsetting.

“It gives you a little feeling that at least somebody cares when everybody is turning their back on you,” says parent Fred Starkman. “You feel maybe the world ain't all that bad.”

The bats, mitts and helmets were donated by Pitch In For Baseball.
