Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed the Child Victims Act into law Thursday.
The law gives sexual abuse victims more time to seek criminal charges or file lawsuits against their abusers.
It extends the statute of limitations to report a crime to 28 years old.
The limit for civil lawsuits is age 55.
Cuomo signed the law in the offices of the New York Daily News, which has published more than 200 stories on the issue and editorials in favor of the law.
