Cops: Woman drove drunk, crashed with 3 kids in car
An Oceanside mother is accused of drunken driving and crashing her car while her three young children were inside.
Police say Eileen Danon rear-ended a car at the corner of West Park and Indiana avenues in Long Beach Friday night. She then allegedly drove off.
A person at the scene took a picture of Danon's license plate, which police used to track her down. The 43-year-old was arrested in her driveway a short time later. Police say she refused a Breathalyzer test.
Her children, ages 6, 9 and 11, were unharmed in the crash.
Defense attorney Robert Brunetti says his client drank two beers before getting behind the wheel, but she was not drunk. He also says Danon stopped after the crash, but says she left after being ignored by the other driver.
On Saturday, a judge suspended Danon's license. She was charged with aggravated DWI, leaving the scene of an accident and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Her bail was set at $9,000.
Prosecutors say the mother has two prior drunken-driving convictions.
