Cops: Peeping Tom spied on co-worker at lighting store
Police say a man has been arrested for placing a camera in a Carle Place lighting store bathroom to spy on a co-worker. Investigators say an employee of Elements Lighting on Glen Cove Road was cleaning the women's bathroom on Tuesday when he discovered a hidden camera. The device was about the size of a cigarette lighter and was wrapped in plastic, tucked into a bench across from a toilet. Store management reviewed the video, which showed a female employee using the facility. It also showed the alleged Peeping Tom, 24-year-old Wilson Lopez, installing the device, investigators say. Police say Lopez admitted to installing the camera last month and was arrested today. The store's owner, Brian Kleinberg, says he fired Lopez and notified police. He says he and other employees are "extremely upset to learn of these very disturbing allegations." Lopez pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of unlawful surveillance at his arraignment today. Bail was set at $20,000 bond or $10,000 cash. He's due back in court on Dec. 19.
