A convenience store clerk was beaten during a robbery at his store, officials say.
The incident occurred on Montauk Highway and Doane Avenue in North Bellport.
According to police, a man walked into the store around 11:45 p.m. last night and punched the clerk and then stole cash and cigarettes.
The clerk had to be taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.
The robber did not show a weapon, police say.
