Some restaurants in Connecticut are banding together to deliver food to those hit hard during the coronavirus pandemic.

Carl Anthony's in Monroe, Market Place in Danbury and Mercato in Southbury teamed up to bring food to people all over the area. 

Workers have been busy since Sunday packing boxes with vegetables, cheese and other items they say can sustain two people for about a week.

On Tuesday, a line of cars headed down to St. Rose Church in Newtown and the Monroe food bank where the food was handed out.

The restaurants have spent tens of thousands of dollars on the project and hope to feed about a thousand families a week for three weeks.

"I think there's always a need for people," says Sam Devellis, of Carl Anthony's. "This just heightened it to a point where people, they're not getting paychecks and it's really going to start to kick in for a little while so if we can give a little bit back to the people who supported us throughout the years it's fantastic."
