Residents are calling on the city to find a solution for what many say is a dangerous intersection in Coney Island.
Coney island residents say the intersection at West 5th Street and Neptune Avenue is in need of traffic lights with turning signals, due to injuries that have happened there over the years.

Residents say turning at the same time as buses is hard because drivers can't see oncoming traffic.

"It is impossible to see if you're going eastbound around the bus trying to make a left hand turn and turn right into oncoming traffic. It's not visible around the bus," says Michael Silverman, a member of Community Board 13.

The city's Vision Zero reports show that there have been six injuries in the intersection so far this year.

Resident say with the added traffic that comes in the summer, they want the city to find a solution.

"When I went to make a left hand turn going eastbound, I went to make a left-hand turn here. I could not see beyond the bus and people that are coming from behind, they don't stop, they don't care. They have the light, so they are going," says Joann Weiss, the chairperson for Community Board 13.

A spokesperson for the department of transportation says, "DOT is aware of concerns at this intersection and we are looking at how to address them."
