Concerns grow over mold at Stamford elementary school
Concerned parents met with a Stamford principal Thursday night at a PTO meeting to discuss mold that has been found in Westover Elementary School.
Parents tell News 12 that several classrooms have been closed, more are being observed and the auditorium has been sealed off at the school.
Cleanup crews were at the school earlier this week.
The district has said that humid weather in recent months is to blame for the mold.
“As far as how the school is handling it, I think we've identified that we would've all liked to have some information sent home prior to when the initial findings came out, but it's a learning situation for everyone,” said Gloria Domiziano, from the Westover school PTO.
At the meeting, parents say officials told them that the mold count is high.
The Board of Education has its next meeting on Tuesday.
Parents say they'll be there to show them how concerned they are for their children's health.
Westover's principal was not available to speak with News 12, but a spokeswoman for Stamford Public Schools says they have the matter under control.
