Starting Friday, the city is testing out a new pilot program to offer a little space to those of you who have been cooped up because of the coronavirus.
According to the city, four streets across the city will be turned into a temporary pedestrian space, where social distancing will be enforced by police.
Closures will be from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. every day until Monday.
In Brooklyn, the closure is along Bushwick Avenue from Johnson Avenue to Flushing Avenue.
In the Bronx, the closure will be along the Grand Concourse between East Burnside Avenue and 184thStreet. News 12 is told service roads along the Grand Concourse will remain open.
Mayor Bill de Blasio says parked cars can remain in place, the bus route will continue to run on service roads and thru traffic will also be allowed, including trucks and deliveries.

The NYPD will be out to ensure not only pedestrian safety, but that people are following social distancing protocols.

“The enforcement is going to be similar to what we're doing with parks now. We have to make sure if we leave any official space for people to gather and we don't put enforcement with it, my fear has always been, it becomes like a new magnet for people to return to the way we all lived for all our lives until a week ago. And people started gathering and getting too close together,” says Mayor de Blasio.
Staten Island was left out of this batch of closures.
