The daughter of a Calverton farm owner has launched a fundraising effort to retain her family's financially troubled property.
Cheryl Troyan Pelis has helped run Cheryl's Farm Stand for nearly five decades. However, she says her mother can no longer take care of the property since her father died in 2011, and the land is for sale.
Pelis says the farm has been in the family for around 200 years, and that she refuses to let it slip away.
Relying on online donations, Pelis has raised roughly $1,000. She needs $300,000 to save the property.
