Car strikes, kills 2 on Hempstead Turnpike

Two brothers were killed early Sunday morning after being struck by a car while walking along Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow. Thomas Occhiogrosso, 27, of Riverhead, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Car strikes, kills 2 on Hempstead Turnpike
Two brothers were killed early Sunday morning after being struck by a car while walking along Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow.
Thomas Occhiogrosso, 27, of Riverhead, was pronounced dead at the scene. His brother, Joseph Occhiogrosso, 28, of East Meadow, died a short time later at Nassau University Medical Center.
Police arrested James Farr, 33, of Garden City, who was driving his BMW when he slammed into the men. Farr has been charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter in the second-degree and one count of DWI. He will be arraigned Monday.
