A woman accused of faking cancer in order to fuel her heroin habit was sentenced to prison Monday after violating her probation.

Brittany Ozarowski, 24, was sentenced to 1-3 years in prison after prosecutors say she violated the terms of her mandatory drug treatment program. Ozarowski was originally sentenced to one year of inpatient and one year of outpatient drug counseling in addition to a year of probation. She pleaded guilty to 24 counts in Dec. 2013.

Ozarowski told people she had cancer in order to receive donations for her treatment. However, the story was a ruse designed to fund her drug habit.

"There was no cancer, no chemotherapy, no radiation, and no medical bills. There was just heroin," said Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota.

Individuals and local businesses all contributed to Ozarowski's supposed cancer treatment. One business even held a fundraiser for her phony charity.
