A Tony Award-winning play is on its way to Westchester County.

“Cabaret” will be opening at the White Plains Performing Arts Center in just less than a week.

The show takes place in a club in Berlin during the 1930s, right before the rise of Nazi Party.

The majority of the show’s cast are college students, recent graduates or local actors with a love for the theater. They will be telling stories of people that were alive during the Holocaust.

"These people were real," said Nellie O'Brien, who plays Fraulein Schneider in the show. "These people had these experiences that we can all relate to, but in such a dramatic way because of what they had to face."

O'Brien says the show appeals to everyone because they can come to be moved, to learn or just to be entertained.

“Cabaret” will be at the White Plains Performing Arts Center from Aug. 3-12.
