A Brooklyn cab driver is calling on the District Attorney's Office to prosecute several teens he says beat and tried to rob him nearly a week ago.
Livery cab driver Hernando Rangel met with Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez Monday, calling for action to be taken against the seven teens he claims attacked him.
Rangel says on the morning of July 17, the teens called and ordered a cab, but once he arrived to pick them up, the teens got aggressive.
Rangel says the teens took turns beating him as he was driving for blocks, while also trying to steal the phone charger in his car.
He says police officers in the area saw the alleged attack and arrested two of the boys while the others got away. However, the State Federation of Taxi Drivers, along with the borough president, joined Rangel to call out the NYPD for what they say was not a proper documentation of the incident.
Rangel was taken to a hospital after suffering serious injuries to his face, and says he hasn't worked since the attack. He says this was this first time in his 22 years of cab driving that something like this has happened to him.
News 12 reached out to the NYPD for comment but has not heard back.
