The Brooklyn Borough President's Office is taking a new step in tackling the rise in anti-Semitic hate crimes.

The joint effort between the BP's office and the Anti-Defamation League aims to bring an expansion of the "No Place for Hate" program in Brooklyn schools.

It comes after a disturbing uptick in hate and bias incidents in the borough - especially targeting the Jewish community.

The ADL announced Tuesday that the organization is doubling funds to the student-driven program that includes peer mentorship and teaching students to identify hatred, racism and bias. The ADL will also be providing around $250,000 to fund this project - which has already existed since 1999.

However, the project will now be expanding to 40 schools in this school year.

The initiative will target schools in large Jewish neighborhoods where many have seen anti-Semitic incidents.
