Bronx high school placed on lockdown
A Melrose high school went into lockdown Friday after a student reported seeing a gun.
According to police, a student at Jane Adams High School on Tinton Avenue claimed she saw a weapon. The school was locked down while police conducted a search of the building, though a Department of Education official said no weapons were found.
Some students say they were forced to stay in their classrooms for hours. According to students and parents, this wasn?t the first time the school was locked down. They say the police scanned the hallways for a gun just last week.
Some parents, though, say that more action should have been taken.
?The school was in lockdown,? said Leola Graves-Hayes, president of the Parent Association. ?My question is why didn?t they do a roll call to the parents when this happened?"
