A biking group in the borough held its annual Santa Cycle Rampage Saturday.

Bronx Bikes' end-of-year ride seeks to promote cycling throughout the year.

The event started at Project Hope, a nonprofit that prepares job seekers for the workforce.

Organizers of the event say biking helps both physical and mental health, can shorten commute times and provide less of an impact on the environment.

The founder of Bronx Bikes, Cristopher Chavez, says the borough has a lot more to do when it comes to its cycling infrastructure.

"You go to Brooklyn, you go to Manhattan, there's a lot more bike lanes," Chavez says. "The Bronx definitely has some very dangerous roads out there, especially for pedestrians and cyclists."

The 5.5-mile ride ends at the Bronx YMCA.
