A 57-year-old Bridgeport man was fatally shot Friday morning just minutes after he called police to report that he had been threatened, authorities say.
Police say Philip Ingram called 911 to report that he’d been involved in an encounter with another man on Arctic Street, and that the man had pulled a gun on him.
“We informed this person that we had units responding to this location with immediacy, but he wanted to follow the individual that threatened him,” says Police Chief AJ Perez.
Police say the suspect went to a bodega on the corner of the 800 block of Kossuth and Jane Street. According to Chief Perez, Ingram followed the suspect when he left the store.

“You can see in the video – almost immediately he is shot, falls to the ground, gets up and falls back down again,” says the chief.
When police arrived, they found Ingram critically hurt. He died a short time later at Bridgeport Hospital.
Chief Perez says detectives have “good witnesses” and “good video” that will help solve the case.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to call the Bridgeport Police Tipline at 203-576-TIPS (8477).
