Bridgeport Police Chief AJ Perez says a man arrested for armed robbery Thursday morning may be linked to a string of other robberies – including at a Stratford bar where a bartender was shot.
Perez says the suspect, Jachim Brown, 27, robbed EbLens footwear on Pequonnock Street and exchanged gunfire with an officer. The chief says they are still looking for a second suspect they believe was driving a getaway car.
After Brown was arrested, he was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center to be treated for a laceration on his stomach. It's not yet clear if the laceration was caused by a bullet or a fence Brown had jumped over. He was later discharged from the hospital and then formally charged by police.
Bridgeport police say they have a warrant to search Brown's home and will be checking other common points between the armed robbery and Tuesday's Stratford bartender shooting.
Perez says to confirm a connection, they will need a positive identity on the vehicle and a match of shell casings.
Brown has been arrested at least nine times in the past.
