A boil water notice remained in effect Saturday night for Long Island residents in five communities after repairs were completed on a water main break in Baldwin.
The Nassau County Department of Health announced that the water main break was repaired and water was restored to the impacted customers.
The department said, however, that the boil water notice would remain in effect pending the results of water samples.
The department added that the boil water notice was not expected to be lifted as of Saturday night but that it would update the media once the notice is lifted.
The water main break occurred in Baldwin at around 3 p.m. Friday, according to authorities.
The rupture impacted 30,000 customers and also caused a temporary disruption in water pressure at the Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital.
The incident prompted the health department to advise Liberty Water customers in Baldwin, Island Park, Oceanside, Roosevelt and South Hempstead to boil their water before they used it for any reason.
By Saturday, Liberty Water officials told News 12 that all water to impacted customers had been restored.
Some residents said on Saturday they were concerned that water issues could continue into the summer months.
“I don't know why it happened, if it is going to happen again because it happened not too long ago on the opposite side of the street," said Ksenija Remy, of Baldwin.
