The bitter-cold weather caused some trouble Thursday for the Long Island Rail Road and its riders.

Rails broke overnight in Queens, a problem compounded by the freezing temperatures.

Later, an evening fire in an East River tunnel forced the LIRR to suspend westbound service into Penn Station at one point.

Riders say they've had enough -- both of the cold and rail problems.

"I missed my train, the next one was delayed, I ended up having to take an Uber all the way to JFK," said Themi Tambassopoulos, of Hicksville.

"I had to make a connection from Ronkonkoma, and the train is 15 minutes late," Westbury's Jaime Freudenthal said while waiting at the Hicksville LIRR station.

The Hicksville station was filled with people trying to find warmth Thursday night, with many opting to stand in the stairwell or waiting room instead of on the open platform.
