Nike is set to launch its newest campaign called "Queens Take the Lead" and one of the sneaker designers is from the Bronx.
Roselyn Grullon is the creator behind the new sneakers inspired by her home borough.
"I got inspiration from Bronx culture, Bronx history; specifically the Bronx flag colors blue white and orange," says Grullon.
The 24-year-old is a fashion design student at Parsons/The New School of Design and was one of the five young women selected citywide to design a new sneaker for Nike's "Queens Take the Lead" campaign.
"Super excited. It's super surreal. I would've never thought I would have gotten a chance to work with Nike. I am so grateful to the Bronx, if it wasn't for the Bronx, I would never do the work I've done, I would've never gotten here," says Grullon.
A mural in the Bronx will also be featured in the campaign. Grullon says the location has inspired her designs.
"I love the graffiti in this neighborhood, especially the Mural Whitlock and Lowell street and color wise I used that because it's so close to home," says Grullon.
The Bronx-inspired sneakers are available on Nike's website.
The campaign is set to launch next Monday, followed by the 718's debut on store shelves.
