Authorities: School bus driver molested multiple children since the 1960s
A Somerset County school bus driver has been accused of sexually molesting at least nine children since the 1960s.
Edward Atoeff, 84, of Montgomery Township was arrested March 19 at his home on Cherry Valley Road.
Authorities say two adult victims reported to police on Feb. 12 that they were sexually assaulted repeatedly by Atoeff at the ages of 8 years old and 12 years old respectively.
The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Abuse Unit and the Montgomery Township Police Department’s detective bureau started an investigation into the claims and discovered that Atoeff allegedly had sexual contact with at least seven other children as far back as the 1960s, according to officials.
A spokesperson for the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office says that Atoeff allegedly encountered his victims while working as a school bus driver for Jastyke Transportation, which he owned and operated.
Atoeff is now facing sexual assault charges.
Police say that they would like to contact any additional victims.
Anyone who may have been a victim or who has more information about this case should contact the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office at 908-231-7100 or the Montgomery Township Police Department at 908-359-3222.
