Attorney General William Tong spoke with students at Eastern Connecticut State University Tuesday about the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.
Tong says there are currently more than 200 DACA students enrolled at the university. Their future at the school and in the U.S. will be decided by the Supreme Court.
Tong spoke to those students and says he hopes the court will hear the pleas of the so-called "Dreamers."
"Ninety-one percent of all Dreamers after they leave school are working and that just speaks to the strength and the quality of all of you," says Tong. "That's why it's so important and that's why we're here today. To urge the Supreme Court as they hear arguments. To hear the pleas of all of you."
Connecticut, along with 16 other states, are part of the lawsuit challenging the Trump administration's move to revoke DACA.
The DACA program was begun under President Barack Obama. The Trump administration announced in September 2017 that it would end DACA protections, but lower federal courts have stepped in to keep the program alive.

Now it's up to the Supreme Court to say whether the way the administration has gone about trying to wind down DACA complies with federal law.

A decision is expected by June 2020, amid the presidential election campaign.
