A judge Monday ordered a Stamford man to stay at least 100 yards away from one of the women he allegedly threatened to kill over the weekend.
Edgar Sanabria-Arevalo, 31, appeared in court Monday afternoon after an incident Saturday morning on Ludlow Street.
Police say that Sanabria-Arevalo assaulted his girlfriend, threw her to the ground, choked her and prevented her from calling 911.
When her friend tried to intervene, she was also allegedly threatened by Sanabria-Arevalo.
"The girlfriend and her friend retreated to the bathroom where they believed he had a gun," says Capt. Diedich Hohn. "And he said he did have a gun."
Police blocked the street and took Sanabria-Arevalo into custody without any struggle.
Police say they found a pellet gun he had been threatening the women with.
One of the women was treated for her injuries on the scene.
Sanabria-Arevalo is being charged with possession of a firearm, assault, and interfering with an emergency call among other charges.
Sanabria-Arevalo was originally being held on a $25,000 bond, but that has since been raised to $50,000.
Stamford police Capt. Diedrich Hohn says ICE officials are now involved and sent them a detainer to hold him.
Sanabria-Arevalo was told to return to court Nov. 6 and was also told to stay away from the woman’s children.
Police say domestic violence calls are some of the most dangerous cases they handle and remind everyone that there are resources for anyone being affected by it.
