The victim of a hit-and-run crash in Wyandanch last month spoke to News 12 Long Island Tuesday about the struggles he faces moving forward.

Robert Boutin, a 29-year-old Army veteran, was riding to work on his new Harley Davidson motorcycle when police say he was struck by a driver who sped off.

Authorities say Boutin was hit by a vehicle heading eastbound on Long Island Avenue that attempted to make a U-turn on South 19th Street.

Boutin says he ended up in the hospital for weeks with a fractured pelvis, collar bone and tailbone. After two surgeries, he has pins and a metal plate in his wrist and underwent reconstruction to his face.

He now requires a wheelchair in order to get around.

"I have no real memory of the accident," Boutin told News 12. "I remember riding on Long Island Avenue. That's about it."
