Air, bus travel treacherous during storm
Thursday's snowstorm proved to be a nightmare for travelers, both in the air and on buses on Long Island.
Thousands of flights were grounded nationwide, including on Long Island. At MacArthur Airport, Southwest Airlines and US Airways and PenAir canceled all flights out of Ronkonkoma.
John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport canceled hundreds of flights. Travelers were told to check with their carrier before heading to the airport to see if their flight has been canceled.
In Nassau County, NICE Buses are running, but snow and slush slowed them down, especially on the North Shore. The big problem areas were Roslyn, Glen Cove and Great Neck.
