Some activists were arrested Monday while protesting the new MTA fare hikes.

The protesters momentarily blocked a city bus from moving forward. Then, they moved underground and stopped subway doors from closing. Police officers came to intervene and arrested them for disorderly conduct.

Now, the activists are calling for a boycott of the MTA.

In a statement the MTA said, "We support everyone's right to protest but blocking buses and trains is a wildly irresponsible action that does nothing but put people at risk of injury and harm fellow riders. The only thing this event accomplished was to cause delays for fellow riders and take critical police resources away from other public safety work."

Some riders News 12 spoke with agreed, calling the protest nothing more than a political stunt.
