According to AAA, nearly 42 million Americans will be traveling this holiday weekend.
It's the highest number in more than 12 years.
Nearly 37 million will drive to their destinations.
AAA also says to plan for some record high gas prices. On Long Island the average is $3.13 for a gallon of regular.
Also, expect to see extra patrols on our roads and in the water this holiday weekend.
Police say 10 people were arrested at this sobriety checkpoint overnight on Waverly Avenue near Sunrise Highway in Patchogue.
State and local police have announced a Memorial Day weekend crackdown on drunk driving.
