Students at Weber Middle School in Port Washington walked together in support of Holocaust survivor Mark Schonwetter.
The walk was part of the Journey for the Living Challenge, where people walk, run or ride 15 miles.
That’s how far Schonwetter’s journey was to escape Nazi dominion in his hometown.
Schonwetter brought a message to students in a district that has had multiple antisemitic incidents this year.
"Try to prevent any hatred between each other. We don’t need hatred,” Shonwetter said. “In the short period of time that we live in this universe, why can’t we live in peace with each other?”
The 90-year-old joined students for the final quarter mile of their journey.
