(AP) - A 7-year-old handicapped girl has died afterfalling out the fifth floor window of her family's apartment in theBronx.

Police say Chelsea Maldonado died shortly after 8 a.m. Thursdayfrom injuries suffered when she fell from the window of her GrandView Place apartment.

The little girl, who was blind in one eye, autistic and used awheelchair, fell from the window, which had a child-protectionguard on its lower half, police told the Daily News of New York. Itwasn't clear how she fell out.

She was taken to a hospital in critical condition after hermother dialed 911. Neighbors said they heard her relativesscreaming for help.
