Three teens were charged Tuesday morning for their alleged roles in a North Shore crime spree.
Police say the teens, two of whom are twin brothers, hit 13 locations and stole 11 high-end cars over the past 10 months. They were identified as Isaac and Isaiah Brown, 16, of Manhasset, and Taylon Hill, 18, of New Cassel.
Authorities say the cars were stolen from homes in Mill Neck, Muttontown, Old Brookville, Oyster Bay and Laurel Hollow. Police say most of the thefts occurred this month. One happened in August.
Deputy Inspector Kenneth Catalani says the teens went into cars looking for keys.
"If they found the keys, they would steal the car. On two occasions, there were no keys in the car, but they hit the garage door opener, they went into the garage looking for the keys to the vehicles," says Catalani.
Police say the trio stole Porsche, BMW, Audi, Mercedes and Lexus vehicles.
The crime spree ended over the weekend when authorities say the trio stole a Jeep in Glen Head.
"Somebody reported the car stolen and we were able activate the GPS device on the car," says Catalani. "We were able to follow to where they were and surrounded them."
The Brown brothers and Hill face a slew of charges, including burglary, grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
