A second suspect has reportedly been arrested in connection with a Queens robbery that resulted in the friendly fire shooting death of an NYPD detective from Calverton.
Christopher Ransom was arraigned on murder and other charges in his hospital bed just hours after NYPD Commissioner James O'Neill announced they were looking for a second suspect.
Ransom was held without bail. In a statement, Ransom's attorney claims he's been denied access to case evidence. He also disputes that Ransom has a felony record.
Investigators say Ransom used a fake gun to hold up a T-Mobile store in Queens Tuesday night. They say multiple officers fired 42 rounds in 11 seconds when Ransom charged at them with a gun that turned out to be a fake.
According to the New York Post, the second man in custody acted as a lookout for the robbery.
Sgt. Matthew Gorman was shot in the leg and is now recovering at home in Seaford.
Detective Brian Simonsen, of Calverton, was fatally shot in the chest. His wake will be held Monday and Tuesday at Saint Rosalie Roman Catholic Church in Hampton Bays. A funeral Mass will follow the next morning.
