Married couple dies in Ronkonkoma car crash

A married couple was killed Saturday morning in a single-vehicle car crash with a tree in Ronkonkoma.
Detectives say a man driving westbound on Peconic Street crossed into the eastbound lane, left the roadway and struck a tree at 11:20 a.m.
The male driver and female passenger died at the scene. Police have identified the couple as Walter Jakubowski, 83, and his wife, Margaret Jakubowski, 75, of Ronkonkoma.
Police ask anyone with information about the crash to call the Suffolk County Police Department Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
