A 12th man suspected in the gang slaying of a 15-year-old boy outside a Belmont bodega will be extradited to New York after his arrest in Connecticut, officials say.
State troopers there apprehended Luis Cabrarasantos, 25, Monday after a license plate scanner spotted his car on Interstate 84 in Southbury. The NYPD had flagged Cabrarasantos' vehicle as one belonging to a suspected killer.
Cabrarasantos is facing multiple charges including being a fugitive from justice. He waived his right to contest extradition Tuesday at Waterbury Superior Court in Connecticut.
Eleven other men have also been arrested on a slew of charges in the violent death of Lesandro "Junior" Guzman-Feliz. Gory video showing the brutality of the attack has circulated widely on social media. It shows a group of men dragging the teen out to the sidewalk as he grabs desperately at the side of a building. Then they take turns hacking and stabbing him before fleeing the crime scene. The bloodied victim staggers to his feet and eventually runs off to nearby St. Barnabas Hospital. Police say he died outside.
Cabrarasantos is being held on a $1 million bond and is expected to appear in Connecticut court before his extradition.
Police say they expect him to arrive in New York next week.
They are no longer actively seeking more suspects.
